    Sri Sukta

The Sri Sukta is composed of sixteen mantras invoking the Divine Mother Sri, from whom the entire universe emanates, and who is the source of beauty, auspiciousness, abundance, and prosperity of all kinds. Individually, the mantras have specific application in sadhana; collectively, they are recited for nurturing and supporting our spiritual and worldly endeavors.

This collection of mantras is extremely beneficial for practitioners of the Sri Vidya lineage, especially those practicing Navarna Mantra. This booklet contains each mantra both in Sanskrit and in English, as well as an English translation of each word within the sixteen mantras. The Prayoga Shastra related to each mantra of the Sri Sukta is described in acclaimed texts such as Sri Vidyarnava.

    Shiva Sutra

The Shiva Sutra is one of the most profound and experiential tantric texts. Each of these 77 Sutras presents the experiences gained by the masters in the process of completing their spiritual quest. These masters were hatha yogis, deeply steeped in the practices of tantra and alchemy. They used their bodies as laboratories, combining the techniques of pranayama, mudras, herbs, gems, mantras, yantras, and mandalas. By applying the integrated techniques of yoga, tantra, ayurveda, and alchemy, they gained access to the vast pool of kundalini and prana shakti. The sum of these techniques and experiences emerged as the Shiva Sutra.

The Shiva Sutra is a revealed scripture, a priceless gift from Sage Durvasam, who is one of the great luminaries of the Sri Vidya tradition. To date, commentators and scholars have focused on only the philosophical and metaphysical dimensions of the Shiva Sutra, but it is only by studying this text in conjunction with scriptures such as the Yoga Sutra and Saundaryalahari that we begin to comprehend the true spirit of this powerful text.

    Rudra Sukta

Rudra is prana shakti, the vibrant life force. Rudra shakti and prana shakti are identical. This shakti pulls us out of inertia, making us vibrant and energetic. Rudra shakti fills the entire universe. That is why the world made of matter and physical energy is able to retain its existence. All forms of change -- creation, maintenance, and annihilation -- are propelled by rudra shakti. A direct experience of this truck opens the floodgate of enlightenment and the lack of it serves as the ground for bondage.

Although these 16 mantras together constitute the indivisible core of Rudra Yoga, each mantra in its own right constitutes an independent and complete practice. Prayoga shastra, the applied section of Tantra vidya, gives detailed guidelines on how to arrange many more sets of mantras within and around these 16 mantras of Shata Rudriya.
